Laserfiche announced today that Michael Wells, Desktop Services Manager at Chesterfield County, VA, is the recipient of the 2017 Tom Wayman Leadership Award. Wells receives the award for driving the innovative use of Laserfiche enterprise content management (ECM) software across Chesterfield County and integrating the software with core technologies, such as the county’s ERP systems. His work ensures accuracy of information and a seamless user experience for hundreds of users across the county.
Wells and his team have significantly improved the business processes of multiple departments and enhanced county employees’ ability to collaborate on projects, saving paper and paper related-costs, and dramatically streamlining operations across the organization.
“As we’ve grown the county’s use of Laserfiche, more and more of our users realize the possibility of leveraging the system for greater efficiency,” said Wells. “It’s become so inextricably linked to day-to-day operations that the ability to integrate with Laserfiche is now requested by our end-users for new technology purchased by Chesterfield County.”
“As a champion of productivity and efficiency, Michael Wells brings infectious curiosity and enthusiasm to every project he undertakes,” said Katie Burke, Senior Government Program Strategist at Laserfiche. “His willingness and commitment to sharing knowledge makes him an inspiration to his peers, his industry and the Laserfiche community as a whole.”
According to Wells, one of the biggest strengths of Laserfiche is its diverse and knowledgeable community of users. “When you work in technology, with its many niche roles and departments, it can easily feel like problem-solving is a solitary activity,” said Wells, who is one of the leaders of the Virginia User Group, the largest and most active Laserfiche user group in the world. “My team and I are able to pose a question online and have an answer within minutes, and the Laserfiche Empower Conference brings this global community together in-person every year. We’re fortunate to recreate some of that magic in our user group.”
“Michael Wells truly exemplifies creativity, leadership and the spirit of innovation throughout his work at Chesterfield County, with the Virginia User Group and beyond,” said Melissa Henley, Director of Marketing Communications at Laserfiche. “We are thrilled to honor his ingenuity, his success and his contributions to the Laserfiche community.”
