LONG BEACH, Calif. — Laserfiche, a provider of premier document and records management software solutions, will demonstrate Laserfiche Version 7.2 Records Management Edition (RME) at ARMA 2006 in San Antonio, Texas, this week. A significant update to the current version of the software, Laserfiche 7.2 RME features a host of new features designed with the specialized records management needs of business and government users in mind.
“In addition to traditional document management capabilities, records managers need special tools to manage records according to a formal file plan,” says Jereb Cheatham, Manager of Technical Services at Laserfiche. “By incorporating document and records management capabilities into the core architecture of a single product, Laserfiche 7.2 RME is a unique, unified document and records management solution in a single package.”
Laserfiche 7.2 RME addresses the specialized needs of records managers by providing comprehensive records management controls. Records managers can use Laserfiche 7.2 RME to manage documents from creation to final disposition, customizing the system to conform with an organization’s specific processes and regulatory compliance initiatives. Administration controls allow simple, centralized management of security privileges, storage settings, and records schedules.
Like previous versions of the software, the powerful features of Laserfiche 7.2 RME provide organizations with the benefit of Transparent Records Management.
“Most employees in an organization use a document management system to perform basic tasks with their documents; they’re not concerned with complicated retention or security rules,” Cheatham says. “Laserfiche 7.2 RME provides true Transparent Records Management – meaning that records managers retain control over the way all information is categorized and filed ‘behind the scenes,’ outside of the view of everyday users of the system.”
The Transparent Records Management capabilities in Laserfiche 7.2 RME provide customers in all industries the ability to maximize their investment while ensuring regulatory compliance. Among the most anticipated new features in this latest release is “Check In/Check Out.” This collaboration feature allows multiple users to modify documents and track changes made by multiple users with the safety of keeping documents from being overwritten. More than simple version control, Check In/Check Out ensures absolute security of dynamic documents before being saved as permanent.
Other upgrades in Laserfiche 7.2 RME include expanded support for foreign languages, drag/drop compatibility with Microsoft Outlook, search enhancements and greatly enhanced document auto-naming capabilities, to name just a few.
In late 2005, Laserfiche RME was certified for use on the United States Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), and was also recertified by the United States Department of Defense as DoD 5015.2 compliant.
