Loudoun County Builds 82 Departmental Solutions with Laserfiche ECM, Wins Leadership Award

Introduced in 2014, the Tom Wayman Leadership Award honors an exceptional individual within the Laserfiche global community who exemplifies extraordinary leadership, vision and commitment to sharing the Run Smarter® philosophy. Jakub Jedrzejczak, ECM Systems and Database Administration Team Manager at Loudoun County, VA, one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S., has been named the third recipient of this prestigious award.
Jedrzejczak leads a team that has implemented Laserfiche enterprise content management (ECM) in 30 county departments, including: Finance and Procurement; Commissioner of the Revenue; Family Services; Commonwealth’s Attorney; Community Corrections; and many more.
In the past, Loudoun County didn’t have an enterprise standard for document management. “Departments went out and found their own solutions, which led to information silos and poor IT support,” said Jedrzejczak.
“As we standardized on Laserfiche ECM, we were able to retire five legacy imaging systems, build 82 departmental ECM solutions and integrate Laserfiche with 19 multi-departmental systems,” he said. “Doing this we were able to improve IT support and information sharing across the county.”
To accelerate county-wide adoption, Jedrzejczak and his team presented on the value of Laserfiche at department leadership meetings. “Using a universal Laserfiche ECM platform, we were able to provide savings on licensing and support costs, as well as standardize training and implement best ECM practices across the county,” he said.
According to Jedrzejczak, one of the biggest benefits of selecting Laserfiche is the ability to use the same solution in multiple county departments without having to write more code. For example, “after we created a fax system integration for Family Services, we were able to roll it out to other departments very quickly—in days, not weeks or months,” he said. “We also integrated Laserfiche with an HR system for our main HR office, and have replicated it in four additional departments, including: Parks and Recreation; Library; Fire and Rescue; and our school system.”
Jedrzejczak and his team have now integrated Laserfiche with a total of 19 other software applications, including an Oracle ERP system. “Loudoun County and the Loudoun County Public School District came together to implement a shared ERP system with Laserfiche integrated on the back end. By deploying ERP and ECM as a shared service, we’re leveraging economies of scale and making more efficient use of our IT resources,” he said.
“Jakub and his team are guiding Loudoun County to new heights of productivity through their enterprise deployment of Laserfiche,” said Katie Burke, Senior Government Program Strategist at Laserfiche. “In addition, they share their time and expertise with others through their participation in Laserfiche user groups, webinars and the Solution Exchange. We’re lucky to have them as members of our community, and congratulate them on their extraordinary results!”
The Run Smarter® awards ceremony took place during the Laserfiche Empower 2016 Conference in Long Beach, CA.
